Information
Metal powder is mixed with Resin/ Gelcoat, then catalysed.
To save material you can brush filled Gelcoat onto mould surface, then cast with resin / filled resin or layed up with fiberglass matt and resin. When stripped from mould you can polish to reveal the metal powder.
The metal content should be as high as possible whilst still workable.
Greater quantities of metal filler will give better results, as a guideline 1part by weight resin. For every 100g of brass powder you will produce approx 20ml in volume.

Q & A

I have read that shoe polish can be used to give an antique look top the final cast is this correct?

Shoe polish is often used as a cheap alternative to rubbing in Graphite powder. It does work well however it can prevent a good adhesion for clear lacquers if you plan to coat them afterwards.
