Gurit Microballoons are hollow phenolic resin spheres, recognized by their distinctive reddish-brown color. They are ideal as a brown bonding filler, particularly useful for cosmetic fillet joints, filling, and finishing in wood construction. These microballoons are excellent for creating smooth, easy-to-sand finishes, making them perfect for low-strength bonding of softwoods like cedar and for cosmetic wood applications. While not as waterproof as glass bubbles, they are favored for their superior sanding characteristics. Gurit Microballoons are not recommended for use with polyester or vinylester resins due to the potential for styrene attack. Proper storage is essential to prevent atmospheric moisture absorption, ensuring optimal performance in filled mixes.
