Bonding fasteners are extremely versatile; they can be used on a number of different materials providing equally strong and reliable fixing. They are widely used in the automotive and marine and aerospace industries, and highly regarded for their light weight and durability.
These fasteners are designed with a holed flange which helps to provide a secure and permanent bond, making them perfect for applications where vibration or other environmental factors may compromise the integrity of the joint. The stainless-steel material ensures excellent resistance to corrosion, even in harsh environments.
These fasteners can be fixed in place using a wide range of bonding agents such as thickened epoxy, methacrylate, vinylester, polyester and polyurethane bonding pastes.
Freefix tends to be our most commonly used bonding paste to initially fix these to polyester GRP laminates before they are backed up with a further layer GRP laminate over the flanging to hide the flange within the fibreglass product, and further lock them permanently in place.
Your choice of bonding agent will depend on the substrate you are fixing to and the mechanical strengths you need. You may have to carry out your own tests depending on your project's intended use.
