Information

an orange-colored, uncured silicone rubber compound formulated to cure at 80°C and above. This material is supplied in sheet form, approximately 350mm x 500mm with a nominal thickness of 12mm.

Silcon60 is commonly used as an intensifier to enhance local consolidation and definition of composite laminates and as an infill piece to assist in bagging into restricted or detailed areas where vacuum bagging film might otherwise bridge and potentially fail during the curing process.

Key Features:

Color: Orange
Density: 1.25 g/cm³
Maximum usage temperature: 230°C (continuous)
Hardness when cured: 60 Shore A
Supplied thickness: 12mm
Cure parameters:
60 minutes at 80°C
45 minutes at 120°C
30 minutes at 150°C
Silcon60 offers excellent performance in intricate detail areas, making it an essential material for ensuring the integrity of composite laminates during the cure stage. When used as an infill within void areas of tooling, it eases the bagging process and reduces the risk of bag burst. To achieve optimal results, press Silcon60 into place within the tooling void or on the laminate area to be intensified, ensuring it is separated from the laminate by release film and additional release film is used to separate it from the breather fabric. Cure under vacuum in an oven or autoclave under the specified time/temperature conditions. The uncured material has a shelf life of 6 months when stored at 25°C or 24 months when stored in a freezer.
