New formula please consult new technical data before use, if unsure call our technical team for more advice.
This resin is used to make paperweights, preserve medical and biological specimens, and is widely and successfully used in the making of costume jewellery. Water Clear Casting Resin can also be used by modellers to make ponds and streams or various water effects in landscapes.
Detailed instructions can be viewed/downloaded here: Clear Casting Instructions
Full Drums of this resin can be bought with or without catalyst,
Please note this resin is not advised for RTV silicone or other rubber moulds. Casting from rubber moulds may produce a casting with a very tacky or uncured surface finish.
Can this be used for bar tops or coating wood?
Unfortunately this is not recommended as the top surface remains tacky. This can be manipulated to work with a bit of experimentation with wax in styrene for the last layer however as this is not designed for that purpose we cannot offer any guarantees on final result. we do stock a table top epoxy for such applications however you must have good controlled working temperatures and read all data before using it.
What Moulds is this compatible with?
Thermoplastic moulds such as LDPE same as our jewellery moulds in our arts and crafts section , heat formed plastics like tupperware - but not acrylics. Also not suitable for use in RTV silicones. However, addition cure silicone moulds can be used. water clear polyesters tend to react with rubber and produce sticky veined cast, using moulds made form addition cure silicone will reduce this reaction however may not eradicate it altogether. Always check by calling us first if you are unsure.
